Aftermarket high-performance horns provide an audibly louder, and often more accoustically pleasant sound than stock horns. Stock horns typically output at around 97 dB. Since that the decibel scale is logarithmic, the sound pressure doubles for every increase of 3 dB points, i.e. a horn with 118 dB is approximately seven times as loud as a stock horn. Air horns use a reed and have a trumpet like sound. The components are larger and more difficult to mount in today tightly packed engine compartments. Air horns should be mounted pointed forward and slightly down so that no water builds up in them. Diaphragm horns vibrate the diaphragm to make a more brash sound. Most OE (original equipment) horns are of this type. Because of their smaller size, they are more versatile to mount. Last but not least, most of the horns you'll find on this page are of the newer compact trumpet type. We hereby present to you various brands of better quality & louder automotive horns.
