- Windshield Protection: Hood Deflector mainly protects hood. JAOS Aero Bug Wing II (ABWII) protects the windshield from rocks & debris, effectively reducing the occurence of rock chips, satrs, pitting, & bulls-eyes. And today's low-profile Hood Deflectors sacrifice protection for looks.
True that you're probably entitled to a free pane of glass annually per your insurance policy, but replaced windshield will NEVER be as safe as the original OEM standard windshield, period. OE factory windshield is engineered to provide 40~70% of the strength of your vehicle's roof! It helps save your life by deflecting the airbag and keeping the roof from caving in on you. But if your original windshield has been replaced - you could be in for trouble because experts say millions have not been installed properly. Most people don't realize that 65% of your protection in a rollover comes from your windshield. According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, more than 9% of all accidents are from rollovers. Passengers who remain in the vehicle during a rollover accident are 25 times more likely to escape injury. To ensure a windsheild will remain intact during a collision, it must be installed properly.
- Windshield Protection: JAOS ABWII creates an upward air curtain that diverts flying debris from 'sand-blasting' your windshield.
Have you tried to scrub your windshield repeatedly & feverishly wishing to wipe off those 'dots'? Well, we have bad news for you, look closely, those are actually micro-chips caused by debris sand-blasting. Under sunlight, these chips reflect light & generate so much glare that it's virtually dangerous to drive.
- Better Visibility: The aforementioned upward wind curtain enables faster run-off of rain, snow, and other elements like insects & road dirt - providing better visibility.
- Environmental:
Keeping your glass in pristine condition for years means less waste for the planet.
- Aerodynamics: Depending on your hood's contour & other factors, ABWII may enhance aerodynamics via the following ways:
- It may minimize turbulence at the junction where the hood meets the windshield.
- It may minimize turbulence created by wipers, intake vents, etc.
- It may minimize turbulence created by turbo scoop, etc.
- Unique & Sporty: Nowadays most vehicles wear Hood Deflectors. ABWII in comparison is so rare & unique that it turns heads. Yet the science behind it makes it very practical. Others may think that it's a fancy spoiler of some sort. Perfect for your next show project.
This is the 2nd generation of Aero Bug Wing & it's the result of 7 years of research & real-world road tests. ABWII is available in a few universal forms to fit many makes & models of sedans, SUVs, vans, etc. It is adjustable in various ways although pre-measurement of your vehicle's hood is crucial to a good fitting. It's also very stable once in place & can be removed.
Components:
|
Wing - Made of beautiful, powder-coated & smoked acrylic that is scratch-resistant in order to take some serious abuse. May last longer than your factory paint. Made in Japan and doesn't contain that cheap 'brownish' color tint as seen in most hood deflectors. Also more optically-clear.
|
|
Flexible Bracket - Die-cast super-alloy brackets allow easy yet stable mounting. They're adjustable horizontally to suit a good range of hood widths.
|
|
Rubber Adjuster - It's important to follow the contour of the hood, the Rubber Adjuster, which is an injection molded EPDM (rubber), allows 2mm increments of center height adjustment.
|
|
Holder & Protection Sheet - Holder is made of the best SUS304 stainless steel. Protection sheet is included so as not to leave permanently marks on the hood.

Application Guide: Please note that the following table lists out JDM model names, years, engine types, etc. So you have to find out how does the data correspond to your model. Model names; e.g.: Hilux Surf = 4Runner, Harrier = RX300, Kluger = Highlander, etc. Model years; e.g.: 89/12~97/12 means production from 1989 December to 1997 December. Remember that JDM order is not refundable / cancellable once the order is placed. If your model is not listed here, measure the hood width & note the contour, many of the above 6 models may still fit your car. Adjuster # below in the 6th column means the following height levels:
